Like real horsetail hair canvases, this material has strong threads (in this case, a man-made fiber called melex) running cross-wise, so that the fabric is resistant to folding or bending along the grain, but easily bends on the cross-grain. This makes a fabric with unusual properties -- behaving quite differently depending on which direction the grain is laid into projects. If you don't want to use real horsetail hair canvas in your bespoke suit chest fronts, this Italian cotton and melex mix is a great choice for very light-colored suits. 59" (150cm) wide.
This fabric is included in our Interlining Sample Book.
