Pocketing Fabric

Pocketing fabric - sometimes called silesia - is a strong, thin, finely-woven fabric with a couple of very common uses. It's used to make the hidden part of the pocket, and it's also commonly used as flat lining or underlining on well-made garments that need a little more body than the fashion fabric provides. (For example, we always use a hand-stitched layer of pocketing in the tails and skirts of our tailcoats and frock coats in order to give them the right drape.)
