New Bedford Silamide Thread for Hand Sewing, Made in USA
Silamide thread is a daily use thread in many fine tailoring and dressmaking shops! It's a very thin pre-waxed nylon thread that's great for hand stitching. It has a silky smooth sheen and feel, but is stronger than silk, holds knots well, and doesn't tangle easily. It's 2 ply, but for some uses we separate the plys to make the thread even thinner and use each ply individually. Perfect for hand stitching linings, facings, buttons, zippers, hooks & eyes, beads, trim, and more. Still made in New Bedford Massachusetts, in the USA.
Silamide comes in one continuous length. To use:
1. Break the cardboard holder along the perforations
2. Cut through all thread at once with your scissors
3. Pull out a single strand from the bottom or the middle window.
Can be used as is, or separated again to use as a single ply!
