Horsehair Braid

Horsehair braid has many uses from decorative to internal stiffening. It changes shape under pressure: pinching it will make it bow out on either side, creating a lovely shape. Many of our flat horsehair braids have a gathering thread woven into one edge so that they can easily be pulled to create a curve. We also have horsehair braid without a gathering thread, which is ideal for straight edges (such as curtain hems). The flat horsehair braids come in two weights: hard and soft. The Hard version is acheived by a thicker diameter of the polyester "threads" which create the braid, allowing it to withstand a bit more resistance. The Soft version tends to be preferred for decorative uses, since the "threads" look more delicate.
